Useful Add-Ons

Smart Add-Ons Worth Paying For

Add-ons cost 10-25% extra but can save you lakhs at claim time. Here are the ones we strongly recommend.

01

Zero Depreciation

Why: Standard claims reduce by 30-50% due to depreciation on plastic/metal parts. Zero dep ensures full repair cost is covered. Cost: +15% premium. Worth it: Yes, for cars under 5 years.

02

Return to Invoice

Why: If car is totalled/stolen, insurer pays current depreciated value (IDV). RTI pays you back the original invoice price. Cost: +5%. Worth it: Yes, for cars under 3 years.

03

Engine Protect

Why: Standard policy doesn't cover engine damage from water ingression, oil leakage. Big risk in monsoon. Cost: +₹1,000-2,000. Worth it: Yes, especially in flood-prone areas.

04

NCB Protection

Why: Even if you claim once, your No-Claim Bonus (up to 50% discount) stays intact. Cost: +₹500-1,000. Worth it: Yes, if you have NCB above 25%.

05

Consumables Cover

Why: Engine oil, nuts/bolts, brake fluid replaced during accident repair aren't covered standard. Cost: +₹500. Worth it: Optional, but useful.

06

24x7 Roadside Assist

Why: Towing, jump-start, flat tire, fuel delivery, locksmith — free anywhere in India. Cost: +₹300-500. Worth it: Yes, very cheap insurance.

No-Claim Bonus

Save Up to 50% on Premium

Every claim-free year gives you a discount on next year's premium. NCB is transferable when you change insurer.

Common Questions

Motor Insurance FAQ

What is IDV and why does it matter? +
IDV (Insured Declared Value) = current market value of your vehicle. It's the maximum amount insurer pays if your vehicle is totalled or stolen. Higher IDV = higher premium but better coverage. We help set IDV correctly.
Can I switch insurer at renewal? +
Yes — and you should compare every year. Premium varies by 20-40% across insurers. NCB transfers when you switch. We compare 12+ insurers at renewal time and recommend the best deal.
What happens if my policy lapses? +
If your policy lapses by even 1 day — driving is illegal (₹2,000 fine + jail risk), and you lose all accumulated NCB (could be 50% discount). Always renew on time. We send reminders 30/15/7 days before expiry.
Cashless vs Reimbursement — what should I choose? +
Cashless at network garage is best — no upfront payment, we coordinate with garage. Reimbursement at non-network garage means you pay first and get reimbursed — slower (7-15 days) but useful if you trust a specific local garage.
Will premium go up if I claim? +
If you claim, your NCB (up to 50% discount) resets to 0 next year — so effective premium jumps. For minor damages (under ₹5,000-10,000), pay from pocket. For major claims, definitely claim.
Multi-year policy — is it worth it? +
For two-wheelers: 5-year mandatory third-party. For cars: 3-year TP option exists. Multi-year saves 5-10% premium and avoids forgotten renewals. We recommend it for two-wheelers especially.
