Common Questions

Health Insurance FAQ

Are pre-existing diseases (PED) covered? +
Yes, but after a waiting period. Most plans cover PED after 2-4 years of continuous renewal. Some new plans reduce this to 1 year. We help you pick the best PED waiting period.
What's the right sum insured for my family? +
Rule of thumb in 2026 — minimum ₹10L for family floater (2 adults + 1-2 kids) in Tier-2 cities. For seniors or families with health history, ₹15-25L is recommended.
Cashless vs Reimbursement claim — which is better? +
Cashless is always better — no upfront payment, insurer pays the hospital directly. Use cashless when admitted at network hospital. Use reimbursement only if admitted at non-network hospital.
What's NOT covered under health insurance? +
Standard exclusions: cosmetic surgery, dental (unless trauma), self-inflicted injuries, alcohol/drug abuse, IVF (some plans cover), war/nuclear. Each plan has specific exclusions — we share the full list before purchase.
Can I increase coverage later? +
Yes. Sum insured can be increased at renewal (after 1 year). For higher cover, you may need a fresh medical test. Top-up plans (Super Top-Up) let you add ₹10-25L extra cover at very low premium.
What documents do I need to buy a policy? +
PAN, Aadhaar, recent photo, basic medical history declaration. For sum insured above ₹10L or age 45+, a quick health checkup is required (insurer arranges free of cost). We handle the entire documentation.
